Matt Williams has been conducting camps and clinics in Northern Nevada for over 20 years.  Even as a player at the University of Nevada, Reno, he conducted clinics for the Boys and Girls Club and other youth organizations.  In 1991, Matt approached the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club about having a summer camp.  With the sponsorship of Fast Glass Auto and the City of Reno's Major Youth Advisory Board, Jam On It Basketball hosted over 150 youth. 

Camps were just the beginning.  The word spread about Matt's knowledge of the game and enthusiasm for working with youth. Individuals approached Matt about working privately with kids.  They felt that their kids could benefit from instruction year round.  At first, Matt would take Kate Smith to outside courts or work with the Forman family on their court before dinner.  After some research and soul searching, Matt decided to market the Academy.  He approached Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club about the idea.  From that meeting, Jam on It Basketball Academy was born.  The Boys and Girls Club allowed Matt to use the gym and other equipment.  Lessons were scheduled at 6:00 a.m.  Michael Atkinson, Jessica Collins, Margot Patula, Johnman Hickey, Courtney Moore and Zozsa LeFevre were faithfully there. 

The Academy grew, as did the need for gym time. Matt felt that this needed to be an organization that satisfied the needs of the youth who were interested in improving their skills year round and competing around the country. The Academy was very appreciative of the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club for providing gym time, but as the Academy grew so did it's need for gym time.  The Academy held lessons and practices at various locations, which include:  The Boys and Girls Club, Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, Sparks Middle School, Reed High School, Caughlin Club and eventually the YWCA.  Finding a permanent home was crucial for the Academy. 

Matt's vision. is eventually building a state-of-the-art basketball facility.Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country.  Parents want to give their children every opportunity to excel.  Now they can send their children to an organization that can give them an edge or just enjoy watching the development of their child, both mentally and physically.

Currently the Academy has grown into one of the premier programs in the country offering year-round basketball tournaments, private lessons, traveling teams, camps/clinics and consulting. Matt Williams is the governor of the AAU Pacific District. He is responsible for all AAU sanctioned sports in Northern California and Nevada. Because of the success of the AAU Pacific District, Matt was recently appointed as the AAU Girls Basketball National Co-Chair.

Jam On It Basketball Academy has partnered with All Under One Roof Sports. Jam On It Basketball tournaments will be conducted in convention centers through out the country. Matt Williams and his wife Therese Williams have 5 kids, Omarri 20, Kayla 20, Gabriell 13, Matt III 9, Dominic 4.
