Here are some of the Questions & Answers regarding the AAU Pacific
Regional Championships and the District Qualifying Tournament (DQT).
Q - What is AAU Pacific Girls Regional Championship?
A -The AAU Pacific Girls Regional Championship is the District Qualifying
Tournament (DQT). All AAU registered Pacific District teams are invited,
not just the ones that want to qualify for an AAU National Tournament.
Q -When and where is registration?
A - . Registration will
start Friday 4:00pm - 11:00pm and Saturday 7:30am - 5:00pm. There will be a
special entrance for coaches and Teams
Q -What do I need to bring to registration?
A - Coaches are required to turn their final rosters that include AAU cards and
copies of birth certificates to the registration booth in the main lobby of the convention
center, Coaches and bench personnel must have AAU cards
Q - In the gold division, If I have 1 girl that was born in December, Can I have an exception
to player her with her friends. We are not that competitive and she is not
one of the better players on the team.
A- Absolutely Not. You must play in the age division of your oldest
player. Girls basketball does not have a grade exception rule.
Q - In the Blue Division, If I have a girls that was turned 11 in December
but is in the 5th grade, can she play in the 5th/11U division?
A - Yes, That is what the grade based means. More AAU Tournament
around the country are going to grade based rules.
Q - If I want to go to the Division 1 or 2 AAU National Championships, can I
skip this tournament and go to the AAU Super Regional.
A - No. You must participate in the April 29 - May 1 Regional championship in
order to be eligible for the Super Regional.
Q - How many teams qualify for a Divison1 AAU National Tournament?
A - It depends on how many teams register for the tournament in that age
group. We take the total numbers of teams in the Gold and Blue Divisions
and add them together.
Q- What is the difference between the Gold and the Blue Divisions?
A- Elite teams that are looking to advance to an Division 1 AAU National
Tournament must play in the Gold Division at the Regional Championship (DQT).
Q - What if I want to go to a Division 2 AAU National Championship, can I
just play in the Blue Division?
A - Yes. If you would like to play in a Division 2 AAU National
Championship, you can register for the Blue Level 1 Division.
Q - Do I have to win the Blue Division to be eligible for a Division 2 AAU
National Tournament?
A- No. Just by participating in the event, you are eligible to compete at
a Division II AAU National Tournament.
Q - What is the difference between the Blue Level 1 and Level 2?
A - Blue Level 1 is for competitive teams that are not looking to advance to the
Division 1 AAU National Championships. The Level 2 division is for recreational
and non elite teams.
Q - What is the format of the Gold Division?
A- The format will be Double elimination with a 3 game guarantee.
Q -What is the format for the Blue Division?
A - The format depends on the number of teams. All team are guaranteed 3 games.
Q - What time will games start on Saturday?
A - Teams should be prepared to play at 8:00am.
