The Pacific AAU Girls' Basketball Events Calendar
The Pacific AAU Girls' Basketball Calendar of Events is an informational tool for girls' basketball clubs that are looking for quality tournaments. The approved tournaments and tournament hosts share in the marketing and organization  for the tournaments.  The Girls' Basketball Committee only accepts AAU clubs and tournament directors that have solid programs and a good reputation for hosting tournaments. All of the tournament hosts have clubs of their own and are required to attend other tournaments  in the Calendar of Events. All of the AAU Tournaments on the Pacific AAU Calendar offer age groups 9U - 17U. The tournaments fill up early  and average between 40 and 120 teams.

History of Tournament series
In 2001, Girls' basketball clubs in the AAU Pacific District came together to organize a series of basketball tournaments. An important purpose was to help teams prepare for the District Championship and AAU Nationals.  Special attention was on quality, structure, and collaboration. Over twenty tournaments are now offered through the season. The tournaments on the Pacific AAU Calendar  Events are used to help with seeding for the District Championships.

Objectives of Tournaments
To provide quality tournaments for female athletes
To give teams an opportunity to compete against teams though out the region
To offer tournaments throughout the region
To introduce teams to National AAU guidelines and code of ethics
To improve the quality of basketball in the Pacific District

Outline of Tournaments Placed on the Calendar of Events

The approved tournaments are broken up into four regions with a maximum of 4 tournaments per weekend. Teams can choose to stay close to home or travel to a different region to play. All the tournament hosts agreed o follow the same guidelines and tournament format. Teams have the option of registering for
level 1: competitive or level 2: recreational.

Standardized rules

The tournament directors have agreed on specific tournament rules and guidelines, that include: 3 or 4 games with a cost range of $300 - $350 per team  -stop clock games with 14 to 16 minute halves - awards given to 1st - 3rd places - coaches code of ethics- mercy rule after 20 point lead

Pacific AAU Girls District Championships - Reno, NV May1-2, 2010
The Pacific District Championship is a celebration tournament for the team in the Pacific District. The championships also serve as the AAU National qualifying tournament for the Pacific District.  The tournament features 3 divisions - Division I,II, and III.  Elite teams and teams that are looking to advance to a Division I National AAU Championship should register for the Level I Division. Teams in the Level I division that do not qualify for the division I AAU Nationals Championships, can attend the AAU Division 2 National tournament and the West Coast National Championships. There may be special rules for teams playing in the Division II & III division

Pacific AAU Girls Super Regionals

Super Regional Championship events are an extension of the national championship qualifying process.
The rationale for creating Super Regional Championship events is to offer teams additional tournaments
in which to compete. Additionally, teams now have another chance(s) to qualify for Division I and
Division II National Championship competition.
However teams will still be required to particapate in the District Championships.
